India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 Clash in Doubt Due to Rain Forecast

The India vs Pakistan match at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium this week is in doubt due to a 70% morning rain forecast, persisting rain chances, and worsening conditions into the evening.

Colombo Weather Report

Following a washed-out India vs Pakistan match in Kandy last week, the longstanding rivals are poised to face off for the second time in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 on Sunday, September 10. Both teams secured convincing victories against Nepal, securing their spots in the Super 4 stage of the tournament. However, fans should prepare for another disappointment as the weather forecast suggests that rain may disrupt the highly anticipated clash between these arch-rivals this weekend in Colombo. Check out the full weather forecast for Colombo on Sunday below.

Colombo Weather Forecast

The prospects for a full India vs Pakistan match at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo later this week don’t look promising, as the weather forecast indicates a 70 percent chance of rain in the morning. While the temperature is expected to drop slightly as the day goes on, the chances of rain remains high, especially during the start of the match. In the evening, temperatures will decrease even further, and there are no indications of clear skies. In fact, the rain is expected to intensify during the night.

Despite a good drainage system at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium, the IND vs PAK Super 4 match could still face disruptions if heavy and continuous rainfall occurs. Initially, there were reports suggesting that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) might relocate the final phase of the Asia Cup from Colombo to Hambantota to avoid the rain threat. However, on Tuesday, the ACC communicated to stakeholders that the tournament will proceed as initially planned, with all matches to be held in Colombo.
