India’s Women’s Cricket team will play their first game on September 21 in the upcoming Asian Games 2023.
We are just a few days away from the start of the 19th edition of the Asian Games. The inaugural edition was held in 1951 in New Delhi, while the coming Asian Games in 2023 will take place in Hangzhou, China. India have sent men’s and women’s cricket teams for the upcoming games. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named a 20-members squad for the women’s competition.
Harmanpreet Kaur will be leading the side, while opener Smriti Mandhana is the vice-captain. The squad also have other stars like Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, and Richa Ghosh. Women’s cricket competition will take place between September 19 and 28. This will be only the third time that cricket as a sport is being played at Asian Games.

Women’s cricket competition in Asian Games 2023 will start on September 19. There will be a total of 11 matches in the women’s competition, including the finals on September 25. Notably, Pakistan’s women’s team have won both previous editions, beating Bangladesh in the finals. India’s women’s team will make their only first appearance at Asian Games.
