The Asian Games 2023 women’s cricket event started today, featuring eight teams from Asia. The participating nations include India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
Direct Entry for Top Four Teams
India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh have automatically qualified for the quarter-finals due to their higher position in the ICC Women’s Rankings. Indonesia, Mongolia, Hong Kong, and Malaysia competed in group-stage matches to determine the remaining quarter-finalists.
Indonesia Stuns with a Dominant Victory
Indonesia made headlines by defeating Mongolia by a massive 172 runs. The Indonesian team scored 187 runs and bowled their opponents out for just 15 runs. Meanwhile, Malaysia narrowly won against Hong Kong in a close game, successfully defending a target of 105 runs.

The Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field is the designated venue for all the matches in the women’s cricket event. Here is the schedule for the upcoming matches:

- September 21: India vs TBA (Quarterfinal 1) at 6.30 am IST.

- September 22: Bangladesh vs TBA (Quarterfinal 4) at 11.30 am IST.

India’s Squad for Asian Games 2023
The BCCI has announced a full-strength squad for the Asian Games women’s cricket tournament. Smriti Mandhana will lead the team during the quarter-finals and semi-finals, with Harmanpreet Kaur taking over as captain in the medal match, if India qualifies.

All matches of the Asian Games 2023 women’s cricket tournament will take place at the Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field. Morning matches will start at 9.30 am local time, while afternoon games will begin at 2.30 pm local time.
