BAN vs AFG Head to Head Records in ODIs – Match 4, Asia Cup 2023
The BAN vs AFG Asia Cup 2023 match will be played in Lahore on Sunday, September 3 from 3 pm IST. This is the fourth match of the campaign. Meanwhile, this is Bangladesh’s second match and the first for Afghanistan. The Tigers lost their opening game against Sri Lanka. The Lankans successfully chased down 165 required for victory with five wickets and 11 overs to spare.
Bangladesh is led by Shakib Al Hasan. He took over captaincy after Tamim Iqbal stepped down as Bangladesh’s ODI skipper. He has been in good form in ODIs this year scoring 376 runs this year in 11 ODIs and picking up 11 wickets.
Bangladesh has managed to assemble a strong squad with a good mix of youth and experience. Shakib along with Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das are the experienced players in the side. However, Das, who missed the first match has now unfortunately ruled out of the tournament with a viral fever. Anamul Haque has been named as his replacement as per reports.
With the ball, Mustafizur Rahim will lead the pace attack along with Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud and Shoriful Islam. Ebadot Hossain is ruled out with a knee injury.
Afghanistan is led by Hasmatullah Shahidi. The skipper has to step up with the bat. The return of Najibullah Zadran strengthens their middle-order. However, it is their top-order of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran who need to score most of the runs.
With the ball, their spin attack of Rashid, Mujeeb and Nabi holds the key. Fazalhaq Farooqi will lead the seam attack but Afghanistan does not have a good bowler to back him up. Fareed Ahmed and Naveen Ul-Haq have been dropped.
