Ameesha Patel has recently revealed that filmmaker Rakesh Roshan had asked Kareena Kapoor to leave the film Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai due to differences they had. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Ameesha shared that Rakesh had told her about this incident when she had bagged her first Bollywood film. Ameesha and Hrithik had a dream debut with the film in 2001 which turned out to be a major success for both of them.
According to Ameesha, Kareena didn’t back out voluntarily. Rakesh Roshan asked her to leave the film due to the differences they were having. This decision came as a shock to the crew as the set was already prepared and they had to find a replacement for Sonia in just three days. Hrithik’s debut was at stake, and everyone was stressed. Ameesha shared that Rakesh Roshan’s wife, Pinkie aunty, told her that Rakesh couldn’t sleep all night after seeing Ameesha at a wedding because he knew he had found his Sonia for the film.
When Rakesh decided to replace Kareena Kapoor due to Babita
In a 2020 interview with The Quint, Rakesh Roshan had revealed that he decided to replace Kareena Kapoor as the lead actor in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai due to the interference of Kareena’s mom, Babita.
Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai sequel?
Ameesha expressed her hopes for a sequel to Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai and Humraaz during the interview. She said that if the audience wants it and the makers find a justifiable storyline, then a sequel should be made.

In an old interview with Filmfare magazine, Kareena Kapoor had expressed that she was glad she walked out of Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. She commented on Ameesha’s appearance in the film, saying that Ameesha did not look beautiful and had pimples and under-eye bags in some portions. However, she confirmed that there were no problems between her and Hrithik even after she left the movie.
