New Film Announcement: VD18

Filmmaker Atlee, known for his recent hit film Jawan starring Shah Rukh Khan, is now gearing up for his next big project. He will be producing Varun Dhawan’s upcoming mass entertainer film, currently titled VD18. Atlee shared his excitement about the film and how Shah Rukh Khan motivated him to expand his production ventures.

Atlee’s Inspiration from Shah Rukh Khan

During a chat with indianexpress.com, Atlee revealed that Shah Rukh Khan inspired him not only as an actor but also as a producer. He learned from the Bollywood superstar during their four-year collaboration on Jawan. This experience encouraged Atlee to venture into Bollywood and produce films. He stated, “I already produced a couple of films in the south, and now I have started producing all over.”

The Making of VD18

• The film will be directed by Tamil director Kalees, acclaimed for his debut film Kee in 2019.
• VD18 is set to be a high-budget film, with a focus on mass entertainment.

Varun Dhawan’s Upcoming Releases

Varun Dhawan, the lead actor in VD18, recently announced the film’s release date on social media. It is scheduled to hit theaters on May 31st, 2024. Meanwhile, Dhawan’s film Bawaal, directed by Nitest Tiwari, was recently released on Prime Video. He has also completed work on the espionage action thriller Citadel, alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu, which is directed by Raj and DK.

Jawan’s Success

Jawan, directed by Atlee and starring Shah Rukh Khan, has been performing exceptionally well at the box office. According to Red Chillies Entertainment, the production company, the film has earned Rs 735.02 crore worldwide. Considering its rapid growth, it is expected to surpass the Rs 1000 crore mark in the coming week.
